About

Craig Carri is an Irish improvising guitarist, composer, and bandleader.

He spent over a decade learning London’s jazz scene from the inside; playing gigs, running jam sessions around town, taking lessons with mentors including Hannes Riepler, and studying at summer schools in Siena and Begues alongside Lage Lund, Gilad Hekselman, Ben Monder, Peter Bernstein and Chris Cheek.

For most of those years, the public-facing Craig Carri was a guitarist who played standards. The version drawing on everything he’d absorbed; from Hendrix and Zeppelin to Ravel and Coltrane, with a long detour through samba and the clave-based traditions that thread through so much modern jazz — stayed mostly private, until a deadline made it impossible to delay: a baby on the way, a move to Uruguay booked. The music had to come out.

His debut album as a leader, Hubbub, arrives in autumn 2027. He currently works between London and Montevideo.
